When I look outside lately, despite all the hard work we've put into our backyard, all I can see are weeds. Weeds have overtaken our back yard, and even part of our front. Last summer, we moved over 20 tons of dirt in order to level out our back yard, and laid sod just before the snows set in for the winter. The grass has come back beautifully, and that part of the yard looks really great. We now have three nice 4 x 8 garden planters, a fun chicken coop, a swingset, and strawberries that are growing beautifully! But why is it that whenever I go outside, all I see are weeds?
Yesterday while I was weeding, John J and I had the chickens out of their coop to "forage." John J also loved chasing them and actually became really good friends with "Goldie" - the chicken shown in these pictures. He had a blast enjoying our backyard and our chicken. Goldie tolerated John J enough to slide down the slide and swing with him too!
All I can think of when I remember the joy that John J felt (while I was weeding) is the scripture... "except ye become as a little child"...
When we look at our lives, do we see weeds or wonders?

Well...whenever I look outside I see WEEDS...and I feel you, because I put SO MUCH sweat and work into my yard...and the weeds just TAKE OVER...dangit!
But I love your take on things, momma, as always! I look at my life and see wonders (and I also wonder why some people are the way they are, ahem....).
LOVE YA!
A sliding chicken--amazing! I don't think my dog would even do that. I think the weeds have been exceptionally aggressive this year. I hate seeing those little things pop up between the rocks in our yard.
I wish I saw less weeds in my yard, but I try to focus on the wonders of my children...which is probably why there are so many weeds in my yard!!
