Catching Up...

THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
The day started out early... no one really slept well the night before in anticipation of the big day!! Hannah had her cutest outfit picked out. She had made plans to walk to the bus stop with her really good friend who just moved in across the street from us this summer! Yeah! Her name is Brooke.
John J was excited for his first day of 1st Grade -- to be in school all day! He picked out his Mario Brothers outfit we just bought at WalMart and had his back pack ready to go bright and early! He even had his lunch pack with a peanut butter sandwich (no jelly) and a bottle of water. Such an exciting day!
Then reality hit... oh dear. My shy little boy decided maybe being at home would be the better place to be! His teacher this year is Mrs. Riesen. She has curly brown hair, just like in the picture! When I was a Teacher's Aide last year, Mrs. Riesen was by far my favorite 1st grade teacher! She is really nice.

It was really fun for me to take John to his class and see so many of my little friends from Kindergarten last year. (I truly dislike this picture of me... hate the side shots... the face, the double chin, the pot belly... But this isn't about me, right?) John was a little hesitant to go to his chair, but he finally did! Yeah! I've heard many reports from other teachers that John is doing EXTREMELY well this year in his new class!
And here is John at his table working on his paper, doing "bell work" (keeps the kids busy until it's time for class to start).

Speaking of school, after lots of consideration and prayer, I have decided to quit my job as a Teacher's Aide. I really love that job, but feel that it is more important to help my husband John with his business, helping him to be more organized, put together proposals for future work, etc. I started praying about it, and soon after I found out that the little boy with special needs that I am responsible for is moving to another school the end of September. His parents are buying their first home - which is so exciting for them - but Collin will go to Iron Springs Elementary instead of East Elementary. That seemed like it could have been an answer to my prayers, but you know me, I have to have a pretty big kick in the head to realize I'm receiving answers! The final straw was that John J got really sick AGAIN! Yep, strep and stomach flu 2 weeks ago. We missed a whole week of school that time. Then, stomach flu and fever again this week... and I just found out that because of the Swine Flu scare, I have to keep John of out school for 5 days after the fever breaks - just be to certain. So here's another week of missed work. So, I'm going to become an Executive Assistant in John's architectural business! I hope that I can be of some help to him!

An "Executive Assistant" sounds so much more important! I'm just an Administrative Assistant--see, you sound way more important than me. LOL! Plus, your FarmVille is cooler than mine.
