August, the Eighth Month

Named for Augustus Caesar, the month of August once had the Anglo-Saxon label of Weodmonath, or “weed month.” If you haven’t been weeding your garden all along, now’s the time! One of the finest pleasures of August is stargazing, thanks to warm nights. The Sky Watch highlight of this month is the return of Jupiter which is the brightest "star" in the evening sky.
