We woke up this morning thinking that we would be heading off for a fun-filled day in Las Vegas, visiting our wonderful Grandma & Grandpa (my mom and dad), and the Morris', and my little brother! In fact, John J has been asking every 10 minutes if it's time to go yet!?! But then, we looked at the weather forecast - which will probably be WRONG - but ya never know... Cedar City is under a severe winter storm warning beginning at 5 pm today, lasting until Friday morning. We are expected to get up to another 12 inches of snow!! And the heaviest part, along with blowing wind and drifting snow, would be probably starting this evening, about the time we'd be traveling home. Had we known that, we would have gone down to visit earlier today - even though we would have missed the party at 5 PM complete with good food, good company, and grandpa's famous white elephant game!! Darn that weather!! So we'll go visit Saturday instead. It's supposed to be sunny starting Saturday, and all through next week. Of course!
We are sure wishing we could be with our family - ALL of them... especially all our children and grandchildren (and son-in-laws too)! Oh, and by the way Joseph, John J asked if you and Laura were going to be in Vegas at Grandpa's house... cute, huh?
So this afternoon we'll have PLENTY of time to deliver these plates of cookies, and even take Beau down to his new family in St. George, before the bad weather hits.

Speaking of John J... he just came down to the computer where I'm obviously sitting, with Percy the train - unwrapped (one of the presents that we had under the tree). With a HUGE smile, he said "You got Percy for me?? Thank you mommy!!!"
That's the fun part of Christmas to me!

On our second big snow, a few days later, Daddy went outside with John J and Hannah and made snow forts. The snow wasn't wet enough to stick together to make snowmen. So they filled up buckets, packed it down, and made forts! They even got a little fire going in our little portable fire pit!! You can see it in the extreme lower left corner of this first picture. I was busy snuggling in under our new comforter on our bed, taking a long winter's nap!

Beyond our neighborhood on the hill is a beautiful valley and then the three peaks mountains in the distance. It's hard to see the details in this picture, because it was taken with my phone camera... but I do love this sight, especially when the kids are playing in the back yard!
